***   International Scientific Conference "Dependable Systems, Services & Technologies"  ***

Background
Information technologies and computer systems are, on the one hand, powerful mean of dependability (and safety as a one of the key attributes of dependability to wide extent) assurance and, on the other hand, possible source of vulnerabilities, causes of new dependability and safety deficits for critical infrastructures and different business applications. Hence, in this regard role and influence of information technologies and computer means becoming a mandatory part of each complex system and the linkage between ones and infrastructures increase. On the other side, dependability of computer systems and services depends on reliability, availability, integrity of the system components. Failures and emergencies of critical systems as a rule are caused by several reasons, combination of physical, design and interaction faults and human errors.

Thus to ensure dependability we should analyse related possibilities and risks at the all levels of a hierarchy “element-component-system-infrastructure” taking into account interaction and interdependency in the vertical and horizontal dimensions. Paradigm “dependable and safe infrastructure/system/component out of undependable and unsafe (or not enough dependable and safe) systems/components/elements” is becoming more and more important.

Basic topics
The DESSERT conference focuses on problems of dependability, security and safety at the component, system and infrastructure levels. It relates
to
regulation, analysis, modeling, development, verification, diagnostics and maintenance
of
hardware, software and human related components, computer systems, networks and infrastructures
for
safety critical (I&C systems of nuclear power plants and power grids, ground and boarding aviation and piloting space systems, railway automatics, computer-based health systems, etc.), mission critical (unmanned space systems, etc.) and business (banking systems, telecommunications, e-commerce, e-science, etc.) critical applications
taking into account requirements to
dependability including reliability, availability, safety, integrity, confidentiality, survivability, maintainability, resilience and so on.

Topics unclude, but are not limited to the following:

  • Methodological aspects of dependable systems and networks
  • Dependability analysis and assessment
  • Fault- and intrusion- tolerance
  • Resilience and resilient systems
  • Evolvability and self*-systems
  • SoPC and SiP microprocessor, PLD and FPGA-based dependable systems and technologies
  • Dependability and security of service-oriented systems
  • Dependability and maintainability of high performance systems
  • High availability systems and technologies
  • Resilience and security of web-, GRID- and Cloud computing-based IT-infrastructures
  • Formal methods for development and verification
  • Critical infrastructure dependability, security and survivability, interdependencies in critical infrastructures
  • Reliability and rejuvenation of software and software systems
  • Dependability and safety of human-machine systems
  • Multi-version technologies, systems and projects
  • Ada technologies for critical applications
  • Checking, testing, diagnostics and verification of components and systems
  • Functional safety of I&C systems
  • Safety- and Assurance-Case methodology, techniques and tools
  • Politics, methods and techniques of information security
